Now we all know how much we love our blogging, we especially love it when we see the number of people following us has gone up because it confirms that we are most definitely not talking to ourselves and we can give the other half a smug smile to say "see! People are interested in what I have to say...", but there are so many blogs out there and I for one feel like I am missing out as there are not enough hours in the day to trawl through thousands of blogs to find the ones that I want to follow, so I am going to start sharing some of my favourite. A lot of the people following me share all the same contacts but some that I am following are not all shared(if that makes any sense at all)
So here is a lady who has me practically wetting myself when I read her blog and this gem from the other day is one of my faves...enjoy
Well after reading a fair few blogs in my time I am confident in saying we all love getting nice little treats via (in my case) Mr postman. And the best way to receive these goodies is after a really hard, stressful and busy day which is exactly what happened today. I actually had to get a taxi today to travel less than a mile as my back was so painful I couldn't bare the walk after a day at the kiosk, meeting with a business advisor and helping a friend with the hellish DLA forms. She has MS and is having terrible trouble trying to understand what exactly she is suppose to be trying to explain, so I offered to help put what she wanted to say into words but the forms are AWFUL! So after a few pages we had to leave it as I was desperate to get home and remind myself what my family actually looks like. The fella actually describes catching me at home 'harder than catching a falling star', so that kinda sums up how hectic things are at the moment but anyway I did get home eventually and there waiting for me were 4 parcels. The first was my corset for my moulin rouge themed hen night :) the second and third were these... I have purchased these as one of my close friends came to knit and natter, she has just moved into a new home and it is being totally renovated so whilst all the boys work is going on she decided to pick up her knitting needles again and she was making this... Well how could you not fall in love. I decided I would attempt to make some of these little knitted characters as they make fab gifts, especially for our hospital box. I want to make them ALL right now! My fourth parcel is something I have wanted for a long time now, and I can't even remember ordering it so I was so thrilled to tear open the packaging and find this... Elspeth Thompson was very loved in the land of blog and is very missed so I am so delighted to have this little token of her. I had to immediately dive in and absorb the beauty and the wonderful, simple ideas. These images jumped out at me for their uniqueness and gorgeousness... This book would make a wonderful addition to any home.
Now remember my last blog I mentioned that I was hoping the fella would take me out to buy new yarn??? Well he went bigger and better than that and bought me my wedding ring!!! I saw it and immediately had to have it, and to celebrate the fact he also bought me these stunning flowers... I was so thrilled. I am not putting any pics of my ring on here yet, that you will have to wait for(but with the wedding only 5 weeks away not too long!) but aren't the sunflowers gorgeous. Enjoy some flowery eye candy :)
So hello my lovely blogging companions. Before I start I would just like to say that I am getting a chance to read your many blogs just not having the time to comment as much as I usually do. I always think it is nice that when someone has spent the time to share their thoughts, achievements or even just let you into a small part of their world to say a few words to let them know we are here, but sadly I haven't been able to do this as much as I like lately. Thank you all for your lovely comments I really love receiving them especially when I am being quite lame on the old blog front!!!
Right Catch up... Since speaking we have had 2 knit and natter sessions and they went really well. Got our third on Thursday and I am really enjoying them. So many people around who want to socialise with like minded people and/or learn to knit and crochet. Couple of the girls who will not appreciate this pic hehe! (Oh and the front of our little kiosk in the background...will have to take some pics of our HUGE kitchen!) This place certainly keeps me busy. Today I was on my hygiene course and in September I will be starting a community development course. We were suggested to go on it as we have now been responsible for setting up two groups in the community centre and of course the cafe which will bring people in and get the community spirit thriving again(well that is the plan anyway). I will get a proper blog done when we have prettified the place ;)
In my never ending battle with crochet(the battle being what I want to do and what I have time to do...also the battle of trying to finish EVERY project!!!) Here is what was on my sofa with me last night... My lovely colourful ripple, all made with Sublime cashmere, merino silk. Nowhere near finished(having chained the size of a kingsize quilt!) but I am loving it. I am running out of yarn for this balnket but the fella has promised to take me to get some more soon so I can carry on adding length... Another pic just because I think it is soooooo pretty. Underneath is my knitting...yep that is right knitting. Because I am pretty insane I decided that I may as well start getting prepared for Christmas and I am knitting the younger children in my family scarves and hats. This one is for my little sister and I am using a cotton blend yarn.
Remember I told you about the white blankets??? Well here they are...
OK OK So the second isn't all white but I just couldn't bare it any more so I added a border. You may notice on the side of the pic another white WIP??? Grrr I know they will look lovely with new little babies snuggled in them but for someone who LOVES colour and pattern they are a bit tedious to make and because my crochet skills are limited I can't find an afghan pattern that will make a nice white baby blanket!
So there it is a little more from the land of Emma. I am hoping(my fingers are firmly crossed) that tomorrow is the day that my lovely man is going to take me shopping for some new yarn...wouldn't that be lovely??? I think I deserve some... Hope you are all well, hugs Em xxx
Phew I am so glad it is the 5th July because that means the 4th has past and we can relax for a few weeks(well relax as much as it's possible with a wedding 6 weeks away!) I have been away for so long because with the kiosk getting up and running and wedding, kids, fund raising and general family life it has been near impossible to get 5 minutes to myself.
Yesterday was our kids Taekwondo presentation day. It went really well despite being left to just 4 of us right at the end, but it was a learning curve and we know most of the areas we need to improve on. It is a shame that not everyone helped like they said they would but hey ho the Children had a blast and in the end that is all that matters.
This is the kids instructor showing us all a little of what she can do(notice the bunting in the background??? My first attempt at it)the kids gave a little demo of what they can do also which was really fun to watch. I had a lot of problems with my sewing machine trying to do the bunting. It wasn't all the ol' gals fault, I am just as much to blame as I am a complete novice when it comes to sewing and do not possess the knowledge or instructions to solve problems alone, we got there in the end but by the time the end came it was very late and so I only had an hour to spend on this... The characters were so much better but 1hr before we had to leave my little bug found the cake!!! So little characters nearly became baby food but I managed to rescue them just in time! So there it is some of the reason why I haven't been around. I have lots to share and I am really hoping to get some free time soon to dedicate to this, I am really missing taking photos of pretty things. Take care see you soon xxxx
